I was playing a game with my gamepad when suddenly both the left shoulder and left trigger started activating repeatedly and very fast whenever I pressed either of them. The gamepad is rather old (5 1/2 years) so I took it apart and tried cleaning the switches (I used contact cleaner). Not only did that not fix it, now also the A button and right trigger are doing the same. Here's a video: https://streamable.com/z2s4nt

I'm pretty sure this isn't a problem with the switches, something else is going on. The switches register being pressed and released, they just activate intermittently while they're being pressed. Could it be the actual board/chips? There's 2 black blobs on the PCB, which I'm sure conceal the chips that control the whole thing: p8UNxdT.jpeg

What do you reckon, am I screwed? I really want to salvage it because I love the ergonomics of it and I'm very picky when it comes to peripherals in general. The gamepad's model is a Trust Yula GXT 545

Well, I can't delete the thread so yeah, just to say the problem's been fixed. Not sure what it was but probably some Windows-related shenanigans. I removed the bluetooth pen and reconnected it, windows was like "new device detected, setting it up" and well, now it works fine!
