Budget (including currency): 2000 euros

Country: Netherlands

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming, like Elden Ring, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Inzoi, Oblivion: remastered. For now I have a 1080p monitor but would prefer to upgrade to 1440 fairly soon. (any recommendations for displays would also be welcome, but the costs are outside of the 2000 budget)
Also some programming, but nothing big.

Other details:

I would like to build the pc this month. I have a 5600xt and 3600x right now, built in 2020. Created this in pcpartpicker and would like some opinions from others:

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/rgtDXR

PCPartPicker Part List:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor  (€320.99 @ Amazon Netherlands)
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler  (€49.85 @ Megekko)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME B650-PLUS WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard  (€185.72 @ Amazon Netherlands)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory  (€114.90 @ Alternate)
Storage: Western Digital Black SN770 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  (€69.90 @ Alternate) (already bought, not part of budget)
Storage: Western Digital Blue SN580 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  (€116.00 @ Paradigit)
Storage: Seagate BarraCuda 4 TB 3.5" 5400 RPM Internal Hard Drive  (€93.90 @ Azerty)
Video Card: *Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB Video Card  (€789.00 @ Amazon Netherlands)
Case: Montech KING 95 PRO ATX Mid Tower Case  (€155.85 @ Alternate)
Power Supply: Corsair RM1000e (2023) 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  (€149.90 @ Amazon Netherlands)
Total: €2046.01

Any recommendations are welcome, would like to use the new build for quite some time (5-10 years). Of course we can't predict what games are going to need in the future, but would be nice if the build could last a while. Thought it might be better to go for the 9070XT because of the ray tracing, but not sure if that is the best call.

I have the 4TB HDD for video and photo storage.

If there are any other questions, please let me know. What do you think of this build?

You don't want RGB RAM with dual tower coolers due to the tall heatsinks. Those fish tank cases don't cool well with an air cooler. This latest generation of AMD and Nvidia cards support PCIe 5.0 so find a board that supports PCIe 5.0 for the gpu.

Yep, but it only reaches the first fan, so you can always raise the fan, but that doesn't look good either.

So instead of this tweaked build:

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/m6J3MC

You get this same tweaked build without RGB RAM:

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/list/dX4LKq

Just a suggestion obviously, but very good one and I can explain why.

current PC:

PC configs I used before:

  1. Pentium G4500 | 4GB/8GB DDR4 2133Mhz | H110 | GTX 1050
  2. Ryzen 3 1200 3,5Ghz / OC:4Ghz | 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz / 16GB 3200Mhz | B450 | GTX 1050

I wouldn't use a fish tank case if it was given to me for free, especially if using a cpu air cooler.

So you mean that the build would work better with the other RAM and still good enough for the case? Or it would be better have another case like @Why_Me suggested? Cause I wouldn't mind going for another case, just thought it looked nice and the buttons in front makes sure that my cat can't power off my pc. But maybe I can just deactivate the power off button on another case.

All RAMs work, if you look at selection on my list, you can see your Corsair RAM as one of the options, the filter just picks cheapest.

You can get any case, it's personal prefrence, fishtanks can get bit warmer but nothing to worry about too much it's not tens °C hotter just few numbers.

Do you want case recommendations? Hit me with what kind of aesthetics you plan.

To better explain it, the RAM is literally tall, the RGB RAM, which means it's little bit in way of the cooler:

  • You can see the user had to raise the first fan, to clear the RAM. It works but can slightly worsen the aesthetics sometimes.

Looks like this from the top with raised fan:

Oh wow thanks for the explanation and pictures! Makes a lot more sense for me now 🙂

I'd love some recommendations! I don't have one particular look in mind. I do like to have at least one glass plane to see the build inside, preferably the power button not on top and I do like a bit of a wood look like the Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/product/ybNxFT/fractal-design-north-atx-mid-tower-case-fd-c-nor1c-02 But my brother already has that one so I would prefer something else. And I like some RGB.

Why not just get North if you like the North case?

Either way, there's some cases you might like: (particularly they come with few RGB fans)

Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower Case

Antec FLUX ATX Mid Tower Case

Montech XR Wood ATX Mid Tower Case

Corsair FRAME 4000D RS ARGB ATX Mid Tower Case

Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower Case

be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower Case

Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower Case

Lian Li LANCOOL 216 RGB ATX Mid Tower Case

Lian Li LANCOOL III RGB ATX Mid Tower Case

Lian Li LANCOOL III RGB ATX Mid Tower Case

They all should be decent or better.
