My old GPU recently died, so I replaced it with a new one. However, ever since the swap, I’ve been unable to access the BIOS properly—even though Windows boots up just fine.

Before the GPU failure, I had enabled a BIOS setting that allowed both the dGPU and iGPU to run at the same time (I don’t remember the exact name, maybe "iGPU Multi-Monitor" or similar). In the BIOS, I had manually set the main display output to the dGPU, and my second monitor was connected to the iGPU.

I remember that when entering BIOS, my second monitor would only show the BIOS background with no actual menu, while the main menu showed up on the dGPU-connected monitor. I’m not sure if that’s related to the issue now, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Reset the CMOS using the button on the motherboard

  • Removed and reinstalled the CMOS battery

  • Tried updating the BIOS (but couldn’t fully do it because Secure Boot is enabled)

  • Tried booting using only the iGPU (disconnected the dedicated GPU)

Unfortunately, none of these steps have worked. The motherboard is a MAXSUN B650M Challenger WiFi, which isn’t a very common brand, so it’s been hard to find support or documentation. I did find one person with the exact same issue here:

Should I just buy a new motherboard, or is there anything else I can try first?

Same issue here. Try the same things you do, mine is a B650m wifi with a Ryzen 5 8600 G on it. The motherboard is brand new, and after the first time I entered the BIOS, it won't load anymore. I'm reading online docs, even if we can pass the secure boot, we need to disable the Write flash protection in the BIOS to update the BIOS. And I don't have access to it. I don't know how to solve this problem. Besides that, I installed Windows 11 and it boots and works normally, but I'm unsure if it's with the best settings for my processor.

from cmd or powershell:
shutdown /r /fw

^ I haven't tested this, but it's discussed on this reddit thread and I remember having Asrock z97 motherboard software to "restart to UEFI" which probably just uses the /fw shutdown command
