Which MicroCenter bundle is best?

Budget (including currency): $500ish (only for the CPU bundle, GPU isn't included in this thinking)

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: 4k gaming (although I've been doing 4k with a 12400 and 3060ti so keep that in mind) Premiere Pro editing of 4k or 1440p footage

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I'm planning on soon upgrading my computer at MicroCenter from my current i5 12400 and 3060ti to one of their Ryzen bundles
Either the Ryzen 7 7700X for $399 https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006968/amd-ryzen-7-7700x,-gigabyte-b650-gaming-x-ax-v2,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle

or the Ryzen 5 7600X3d for $449 https://www.microcenter.com/product/5007069/amd-ryzen-5-7600x3d,-asus-b650-e-tuf-gaming-wifi-am5,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle

Gaming is the main concern but I still do want it to be better for video editing too, the idea is to pair it with whatever 5070 or 9070 or 9070XT I can eventually find

Which would be better or would it really worth it especially with those GPUs in mind to try and save for the $579 Ryzen 7 7800X3d bundle

Damn, you missed a couple weeks ago. The 7800X3D bundle was like $479?

I'd personally get the 9700X bundle for $429.  It's actually 10% better than the 7700X, more efficient as well.   It's not a huge deal over it, but it IS linear for price/performance so either one makes sense, but you actually get what you're paying for at least for the difference.

The 7600X3D is decent, but it's not as large of an uplift as the 5600X3D was over the 5600.  The 7xxx series chips are actually damn good in their own right.

So yeah, either the 7700X or 9700X bundles.  Make sure to PBO/CO them and they'll pop even more.

the 7700X doesn't really make any compromises, while I assume the 7600X3d would have more gaming performance, but you'll absolutely sacrifice editing performance (2 cores / 4 threads less / -25% multicore speed). If you buy the 7800X3d you won't be making any compromises, but you'll be paying more. It depends on how much do you prioritize your money, gaming performance, and editing speed over one another. Also, at 4K, the difference in CPU speed is dramatically overshadowed by your GPU, even a 9800X3d only shows about a 2-5% speed improvement in 4K over the next best CPU, while at 1080P its more like 10-20%. Probably just buy as many cores as your can on the latest generation of AMD CPU you can afford in your budget and you'll be fine. You don't need more than 8-12 cores unless you're really getting into editing
