Displayport Issues on Rx 6600 XT

Go to solution Solved by circeseye,

are you sure its not the monitor thats the issue? youve done everything computer wise. monitor might have a bad dp plug

Hey everyone, I’ve run into a frustrating issue with a new PC build and could use some help.

Specs:

  • GPU: RX 6600 XT
  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5500
  • Motherboard: MSI A320M PRO-MAX
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Monitors: 1080p
144Hz (main), using both HDMI and DisplayPort to test

The problem:

Whenever I connect my monitor via HDMI on the GPU, everything works perfectly. But if I use DisplayPort, the system boots normally, then after a few seconds on the desktop I get colorful static, and then the screen goes black. The PC itself stays on. Switching back to HDMI immediately resolves the issue.

If I try to plug in both HDMI and DisplayPort at the same time, it still causes the same static-and-black-screen issue on the DP side, even if I’ve already logged in on HDMI.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Reinstalled AMD drivers using DDU
  • Updated BIOS to the latest version
  • Swapped DisplayPort cables
  • Tried different DP ports on the GPU
  • Tested on different monitors with DP input

Still no luck.

Has anyone run into this before? Is this a GPU issue, a compatibility problem with the A320 board, or something else?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions
