So I just acquired a HP Victus gaming laptop (unsure which exact model but should be the 16) and I am attempting to troubleshoot the issue as I put it in the title. The laptop gets power, when the battery is plugged in the connector light shows up as orange, with it out its white and when I use a powerbank to plug it into the usb c port on the side, it shows that its drawing abt 1.5 w.

any help is appreciated

Seems its just using standy power. Whats the story behind it? Spunds like you got it from someone.

Well I wouldnt know what its using, its not turning on. The story is, I believe, hardly relevant.

Could give us hints what could have happened.

Anyway its pulling stabdby power so there is some power distribution live.

If the power button does NOTHING like absolutly nothing no llights no movement no nothing then well either that broke or something else is wrong.

Usually if a drive, fan, battery, ram and such is busted it will at least try to power.

So basically if thats the case time to open it up and poke it with a multimeter seeing where the power pathway is and seeing what is getting currenr and what is not

So disconnect the battery then hold the power button for a minute. This thing may just have been cmos locked.

Hmm seems theres some power at least. Unless you have a multimeter to start probing theres little else to do atm

Do you suggest I should take it to a repair shop? Here in germany they take money from you just for walking into the store and talking to them lmao
