Anybody else experience horizontally mounted fans that start making noise, like they're getting worn out, sooner than vertically mounted fans? This has happened to me multiple times now whenever I mount exhaust fans at the top of my case it sounds like the bearing or something gives out and starts making noise. A squeaky fan bearing has got to be the most annoying thing. Is there some way to prevent this, a style of bearing that isn't susceptible to wearing out when mounted flat?

There are some fan bearing types (forget which ones off the top of my head though) that will die sooner if mounted horizontally, though IIRC they're used exclusively on cheap fans. I've never personally run into fans dying quicker one way or another, though I don't buy the absolute cheapest fans I can get my hands on.

Didn't notice anything like this, but only use decent fans (worst I have are TR, else it's Arctic-BQ)

I wouldn't say so.  That would mean that 95% of all GPU's are in trouble

I agree. Vertical gpu mounting is very uncommon and if the fans mounted horizontally (which is most people) are pretty much doomed. Me personally, I have my gpu mounted vertically but maybe thats just me.

I bought some really good case fans and actually they're the ones that seem to be holding up perfectly, absolutely silent. But it's my gpu and psu fans that are actually the noisy ones in my system. As soon as they spin up it's super annoying. I got the cheap version of my video card so maybe that's got something to do with it.
