New post since I somehow got my friend‘s PC to boot for a few times.

specs:

  • Ryzen 5 7500F
  • MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi
  • Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB 6000 MT
  • Montech Air 1000 Premium White
  • Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE
  • be quiet Pure Power 12 M 750W
  • 1080 Ti from the old system

Wasn’t getting any display, also no Debug LEDs.

Installed the second latest BIOS from January since the one from march apparently has some issues. Got no display still.

Switched the GPU with my own 3070, instantly got a display, enabled EXPO with MCR at 6000 MTs, followed by three bluescreens on each new startup. Two of those included a “Kernel” error (heap-something and security-something). Then I put the RAM at 5800 MTs just to be sure it was stable, didn’t get any Bluescreen.

Switched back to the 1080 Ti, suddenly cpu and dram debug lights were on. Powered it down, started it again, only the dram light came on. Cleared CMOS, started it, cpu and dram light turned on but eventually I got into Windows.

what could the root problem be here ? I’m so confused.

does the 1080 ti work in your pc? have you ran memtest86 when it boots into windows?

Hey, no I haven’t installed the 1080 Ti in my pc yet.

But:

somehow I get consistent and fast boots now. I cleared the CMOS again, MoBo cycles through red + yellow, then only white, then only green and then I’m in windows.

Restarted it, same thing.

Unplugged the PC, waited a bit, plugged it in, started it, same thing.

So I guess it’s fine now ? I just don’t understand why and if it will stay like this.
