This is the first time I ever installed a CPU and Cooler (Arctic freezer 36) because I bought a pre built.

I get 76c on average while playing and sometimes spike to 84c for a few seconds.

55c idle and 90c when stress testing in cinebench and occt.

Here are the solutions that didn't work:

-Setting the curve to -30 on all cores using PBO2 software.

-making the fan curve favor performance (100% speed for CPU and case fans above 70c)

-I already had updated my BIOS prior to upgrading yesterday, and did a CMOS reset (don't know how that would help but a reddit user suggested that)

PS:

I have a ASUS PRIME B-450 PLUS, and don't have any curve setting or PBO setting in bios, I had to use a software from GitHub to change it.

Should I rest easy? Are these normal temps? Or is it a problem that needs fixing? Because I saw many posts that have temps A LOT better than mine and even one with the same cooler getting <40c idle and <80 on cinebench.

here's my thermal paste application:

whats your ambient temps and what were your temps before the fan installation ?  these temps are under 90 so it safe other get better temps because of good ambient temp and case airflow , also i prefer x or spraed thermal paste still diffrence is barely 2-3 c in any method

its normal

It's kinda not normal... UwU

For real, my 5800x3d runs like 86c in CB stock, and with pbo -30 79c... so 90c is just really hot???

I wonder if thermal application makes a big difference, I always do the 5 dot method... 1 big in the middle, 4 smaller ones in the corners as I've noticed 1 dot often has bad coverage on the edges...

Otherwise, case cooling I guess?

Or golden sample? The second in a row, because my 3600 was very similar (almost same power draw, 130w, and temps... with pbo advanced)

The direction tells you... the direction
