I have a Dell Vostro 3888 with a i5-10400 @ 4.3ghz, with no GPU, 24gb of RAM at ~2133 MT/s, a 500Gb SSD for boot and 8TB of hard disk for bulk data. I run Ubuntu Server 22.04.

I already run many services, like AdGuard Home, Nginx Proxy Manager, Jellyfin and game servers over Docker.

I am curious if it would be worth it to pay for Unraid or switch over to TrueNAS.

I have thought of upgrading the power supply from 240w, but Dell has no room for any standard ATX PSU in the case.

I would go Unraid if you think you have outgrown Ubuntu lol (I laugh bc I don't see how that is possible). The minimal redundancy Unraid provides is a nice peace of mind. I would avoid RAID for home use. It's a total headache if something goes wrong with the drives.

Given your setup and heavy Docker use, sticking with Ubuntu Server is smart — it's flexible and already working for you. Unraid and TrueNAS are great for storage-focused setups, but might add complexity and cost without big benefits for your use case. Unless you really need advanced NAS features, I'd stay put.
