Hi im looking to build new PC but would like to get some advice. My budget is 1200-1400 euro and I live in Ireland.

Main use would be 3D CAD (SOLIDWORKS, FUSION 360, BLENDER)

Secondly I would like to use same PC for moderate gaming like CyberPunk 2077, RDR2, Indiana Jones and upcoming GTA 6.

I do own 32" 4K BenQ 60Mhz monitor and side 24" 1080p 100Mhz. However would like to play games at least 1440p or 4K at 60fps on bigger screen.

Would appreciate your suggestions for List of parts to build PC.

*Any advantages to use Intel or AMD CPU for CAD SOFTWARE?

*Any advantages to use Nvidia, Radeon, Intel Arc GPUs?

*Also RAM size.

Thanks in advance.

Seems like PC Parts alot more expensive in ireland, compared to the German PCPP List of @fabians_life so I tried squeezing in as much performance as possible

Ryzen 7 7700, DDR5 32GB, RX 7700XT

Best I could do for this

Yeah I've min-maxed this HARD. I went AM4, included CPU cooler on the 5600, and I tried to get it all from Paradigit so hopefully to save on postage/shipping.

Managed to get a RX 9070XT in it though, I'd be happy with this build, can upgrade to a 5700X3D later too. Honestly, I'd be considering Aliexpress for some CPUs, see how far you can go, maybe a 7500F (AM5).

PCPartPicker Part List: https://ie.pcpartpicker.com/list/dtt42x

EDIT: Couldn't help myself, I put them all into the cart, €1,373.90, so I am JUST within budget.

Only thing I'd swap instead with the extra budget, go for the 750e PSU as it's in stock now, the other one is expected in 7 days, but I'm an impatient man.

Let us know what you go with 😉

Confirming within budget.

Might i ask, roughly where in Ireland are you based?

Also just a few comments.

I use solidworks professionally and while it does require enough processing power and VRAM, my company is cheap and my work PC has a 4 core non hyperthreaded Xeon CPU running at 3.5GHz and a Quadro K2000 with 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM and its clock speed in measured in MHz, not GHz.

Now, its not a great PC, ans struggles sometimes with some things in solidworks, but for, even low 4 digit part count assemblies, anything better than the above specs should be perfectly fine (obviously the better they are the better theyll work though).

Solidworks runs better with single core performance over a ton of cores and also doesnt hound the GPU too much

Blender on the other hand, im pretty sure anyway, is the opposite, higher core counts and a good GPU is wanted, so youll want a good balance of CPU ad GPU instead of going whole hog on one or the other

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX NITRO+

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Case: 5000D AIRFLOW

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

Case Fans: Fractal Prisma (120 x6, 140 x3)

Thanks to all replies.

Another question I have is about GPU. Is nvidia's cuda cores have impact on 3D CAD design? Or this is totally irrelevant?

Also I have played with pc picker and made this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tVF3v4

Not sure is any good, let me know. Price for this config is 1200 euro on Amazon in Ireland.

@TatamiMatt I'm based in Dublin. Can I ask you more specifically what are you doing in your career?

Some observations

Firstly, unfortunately Amazon on PCP isn’t plugged in for Ireland it looks like, so I’ll just use all sellers.

For AMD CPUs, going for the “X” version when a non-X version exists, especially on a budget, never really makes sense. There’s less than a 5% performance difference and the non-X comes with an included CPU cooler.

Your motherboard choice is mini ITX, which are much more expensive versus a mATX or ATX options, so are usually if you only want a specifically smaller build.

Juggled some parts, better GPU, double storage, faster ram.

Still think at your budget if it can stretch another 150 euro to go for mine above :)

@Conza thanks for suggestions. 7600 and 7600x going for the same price. Do you think is worth going for x? I'm not worring about storage as I have couple 1tb m.2 laying around. I would rather get motherboard with 2x m.2 slots.

Added all to Amazon basket and got under 1100. 1000+ if not counting 1tb m.2 in a basket.

Cool Amazon prices ok, hope prime works ok, we get a diet version in Australia (1-2 days).

Even at the same price, a non-X still includes a CPU cooler, a good one imo, was really pleased with the one I received for my 7700.

My personal rule of thumb for a Gaming system is ~50-65% of my budget on the GPU, so 1200-1400, it’s probably a 650-700 budget. A 9070XT is exceeding that at 850, while a 7600XT or even 7700XT falls short (350-450). The other factor is price to performance, check HUB reviews for the 9070 I think was done last for they do it is great, then adjust to use the best pricing for each part in your region.

I’m going to give Amazon Ireland a go and come back… so no need to budget for an SSD then?
