Dear Users,

I have a seagate personal cloud model = STCR4000301.

Segate Personal Cloud Storage 4 TB 0

I had this device for 5-6 years but never used it. I tried to connect it recently and found out that seagate NAS OS is obsolete.

I found the seagate media app apk file on the internet and tried to connect my personal cloud with it but no luck.

I can access the web page over the local network but can't upload data on it.

The only way I can upload data is through network drive.

How can I use this device as a proper NAS? Can I still use the NAS OS and its apps if I found their APKs ?

Can I somehow wipe the obsolete seagate NAS OS and use some freeware or something else?

Kindly guide.

regards

Either just use it was a network drive via SMB or replace it. It seems like it has gone EOL so no more seagate support, and seems like there is no easy way to get a different OS on it. It might be possible to change the firmware on it, but its likely not x86, and likely not a easy process.

Thanks electronics wizardy.

If i stick with EOL NAS OS. Will it be possible for me to use SMB apps to access my personal cloud over the internet?

I tried some apps but can't get them started. Didn't put that much effort into it.

But if this is possible I can try that around.

You really don't want to exposre smb over the internetl, esp on a eol device. A VPN should work thoughl
