Hello.

Recetly I decided that I want to upgrade ram on my pc with additional 16GB. I have 2x8GB ram Kingston Fury DDR5 5200MHz 40CL and I bought same 2 sticks and added them into slots.

Then I saw solid orange led on motherboard and found out the cpu doesn't work with 4x8GB ram that are 5200MHz or faster. The pc won't even boot up, only to bios where I can see memory is only 4000Mhz even with XMP enabled.

My question is do I need to upgrade cpu in order to have 4x8 ? Or there is also option to choose between bunch of different Frequency profiles in bios that goes from 3000 to 7000Mhz or even higher but I didn't want to try that since Idk what would happen.

My specs:

MSI Z690 A WIFI DDR5

I5 12600K

RTX 3060TI GAMING X

2X Samsung SSD

Corsair RM850

You can normally just leave XMP enabled and choose a lower frequency, e.g. 4400 or 4800.

MSI say that the board can support up to 6000 with 4 single rank sticks, however Intel only state support for 4000.

The problem is, I don't know if your individual CPU can actually run at a higher frequency, or the board is just "playing it safe" by defaulting to Intel's minimum spec of 4000.

Yeah I know the motherboard support to 6000 but cpu is not working good with 4, when I had 4 sticks that are 5200 I only had 4000Mhz but I don't see a point of having 4000 with DDR5

Only have 2 solutions, one is maybe try the different profiles that are in bios but they also have different CL idk if that will work well or second I could buy 2x16 and run full speed 6000 which should work but I wanted to know If there is a way to get 4x8 with at least 5200Mhz I just have.
