How to Resolve an Error in the Android Studio Meerkat 2024.3.1 Emulator on Windows 10 (Dell Precision M4700 Laptop)

I want to share my anecdote about what happened to me a few days ago when I installed an Android emulator in the Android Studio IDE.

Well, the thing was, I decided to format my laptop because, since I'm taking the Flutter and Dart course, I wanted everything to be in order without the problems I had with Kotlin in the Android Studio IDE.

However, the emulator that comes with the IDE didn't want to work. To top it all off, the new emulator installation didn't include the "libOpenglRender.dll" file, which was what caused the problems.

Before formatting the computer, everything was working fine; But, in the new installation with the new Windows updates, I noticed that they had disabled and hidden the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 card, leaving only the Nvidia Quadro K2000M (external).

It was so bad that it didn't even appear in the BIOS, which made me think a lot about these greedy people who want us to always buy modern equipment; that's why they cause problems for immigrants to try to solve. And I'll continue with my 10-year-old Dell Precision M4700 laptop (although, in August of this year, 2025, it will be two years old), as long as it works and until I can buy a more modern one, whether they like it or not. Planned obsolescence has its advantages and disadvantages, which is why it's important to exercise self-control when replacing something that's already working well for us.

Finally, I removed the battery from the laptop, and when I booted up and entered the BIOS, the integrated card was back in the list. And when I reinstalled Windows, it appeared, and I installed the drivers I'd been using for months on both cards.

Finally, to fix the problem, ChatGPT suggested I download an emulator called "emulator-windows_x64-9322596," but it didn't work. However, inside the "emulator\lib64" folder was the "libOpenglRender.dll" file, which was required by the current version of the emulator (emulator-windows_x64-13025442); so, I deleted that old emulator and installed the modern one by copying the necessary file from the other emulator's folder.

However, although it gave an error with an image from Google Play (which doesn't allow editing the graphics), I used one of the Google APIs and clicked "Software" in the graphics resources tab. And since I now have Intel HD Graphics by default in the 3D settings via the Nvidia Panel, and on Windows I set it to Android Studio for optimal performance in the graphics settings, the emulator was able to open without errors.

Of course, to prevent the Windows people from doing the same thing to me again, I disabled automatic updates, as I had done most of my life, and because I was trustworthy, I became careless again.

Cómo resolver un error en el emulador de Android Studio Meerkat 2024.3.1 en Windows 10 (Laptop Dell Precision M4700)

Les quiero compartir mi anécdota sobre lo que me sucedió en estos días al instalar un emulador de android en el IDE Android Studio.

Bueno, el asunto fue que, decidí formatear mi Laptop porque como estoy haciendo el Curso de Flutter y Dart, quise todo estuviera en orden sin los problemas que tuve con Kotlin en el IDE Android Studio.

Sin embargo, el Emulador que trae el IDE no quería funcionar, ya que, para colmo la nueva instalación del Emulador no trajo el archivo "libOpenglRender.dll", que fue lo que dio los problemas.

Antes de formatear el Equipo funcionaba todo bien; pero, en la nueva instalación con las nuevas actualizaciones de Windows, noté que ellos habían deshabilitado y ocultado la tarjeta integrada Intel HD Graphics 4000 y dejaron solo la Nvidia Quadro K2000M (externa).

Fue tan así, que ni siquiera aparecía en la BIOS, lo que me dio mucho a pensar con esta gente avariciosa que quieren que siempre estén comprando equipos modernos; por eso provocan problemas para que la gente émigré para intentar resolverlos. Y seguiré con mi Laptop Dell Precision M4700 de 10 años de fabricación (aunque, en agosto de este año 2025 cumpliré 2 años con ella), mientras siga funcionando y hasta que logre comprar otra más moderna, les guste a ellos o no. La obsolescencia programada tiene sus ventajas y sus desventajas, por eso es importante el autocontrol a la hora de reemplazar algo que ya nos está funcionando bien.

Finalmente, le quité la pila a la Laptop y cuando subió y entré a la BIOS, estaba la tarjeta integrada de nuevo en la lista. Y cuando reinstalé Windows apareció y le instalé los controladores que había estado usando desde hace meses a ambas tarjetas.

En fin, para solucionar el problema, ChatGPT me sugirió descargar el Emulador llamado "emulator-windows_x64-9322596", pero no funcionó; sin embargo, dentro de la carpeta "emulator\lib64" estaba el archivo "libOpenglRender.dll" que necesitaba la versión actual del Emulador (emulator-windows_x64-13025442); así que, eliminé ese Emulador anterior y puse el moderno copiando el archivo necesario desde la carpeta del otro emulador.

Sin embargo, aunque dio error con una imagen de Google Play (que no permite editar los gráficos), usé una de Google APIs y puse "Software" en la pestaña de recursos gráficos; y como tengo ahora la Intel HD Graphics por defecto en la configuración 3D por vía del Panel de Nvidia, y en Windows la puse a Android Studio para rendimiento óptimo en la configuración de gráficos, sí pudo abrir el Emulador sin errores.

Eso sí, para evitar que la gente de Windows me vuelva a hacer lo mismo, deshabilité las actualizaciones automáticas como había hecho casi toda mi vida, y que, por estar de confianza, me volví a descuidar.
