Posted April 26 Hi all, i am not a gamer so no doubt i definitely do not need the likes of 4080/90, 5080/90 chips... but to be safe and sure and not uselessly spend on any medium to high end gcard i thought of asking to see what info i can get... What is the minimum decent gcard (or maybe cpu onboard gchip) needed on a laptop in order to be able to casually connect a modern oled tv to such laptop via hdmi, and be fully happy about the resulting display results. Looking forward to any information and reasonings about such. Thanks in advance Nic Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/1610104-minimum-graphics-cardchip-needed-on-a-laptop-to-drive-a-modern-oled-tv/ Share on other sites
 Posted April 26 Any graphic card can run 4K resolution easily nowadays. Even my low-range laptop from 2016 could run 4K smoothly with Intel iGPU. OLED panel doesn't have anything to do with the graphic card. Just be sure the laptop you gonna have has at least HDMI 2.0 output to run at least 60 FPS. Posted April 26 Intel hd graphics? To just connect to a 4k display you don't need much been able to do that for about a decade on most gpu's. What are you doing on it? Thats what will matter in deciding what gpu is needed. Ok and do you already have a device or? If looking for a laptop anything with an i5(core 5) or like a ryzen 6 core mobile will have HEAPS gpu power for that.
