My MB has a atx 12v connector (4+4) for the cpu. My psu has the same connector. The bale I got with the psi is an atx 12v (4+4) on one end and the other is an eps. Are these compatible? The EPS side of the cable should fit into the mb atx 12v (4+4) connector but it doesn’t feel right.

It would be helpful to know the actual motherboard and PSU models involved.

Use the cable labeled EPS (8 pin to 4+4 pin). The connectors are keyed so one should only be able to comfortably seat connectors in the appropriate socket.
