Why "Last modified" doesn't change even tho I modified things

C:/folder1/folder2/texture.png

I modify file.txt but folder1 does not have a last modified update, so im going insane trying to go around different folders as I edit things in a 3d sofftware looking for texture files and so on

 

How can I make it have last modified updated if anything inside this folder is modified? the behaviour seems to be about files inside folder1, but not inside subfolders. I spend more time trying to find folders than working. And I have all of the "recently opened" spots used by pinned folders, I mean this:

 

 

So I cannot access the "recently opened folders" fast because all are used by pinned stuff. But anyway, if at least last modified worked for subfolders it would be better. I spend more time just looking stuff around folders than working. Im so tired of this crap.

Should I get a custom file manager? I just want a list of favorite folders and a list of recently used folders, but Windows 10 for some reason fails to do this.
