Looking for a 4k video player for Windows 11 that'll be used in the home theater.

I heard MPC/MPV variations are the best but I have one main issue with them: UI is overwhelming and not good looking (early 2000s design and thick white borders on an OLED aren't pleasant and I'm not that keen on downloading custom dark themes and setting them up).

 

Requirements for video player: Supports 4k content, enhanced (tweakable) picture quality, wide video format support like H265 etc., can insert and set-up subtitles (size, position, color...).

I have experience with two: Mirillis SplashPRO and KMPlayer. You'll notice that both have a minimalistic, futuristic dark mode UI. SplashPRO randomly doesn't play some videos, could be that it won't support H265 or something, I don't know. KMPlayer recently started randomly cropping picture from movie format (black bars up and down) to full screen (cropping out left and right parts of the movie) and switches back and forth between those aspect ratios.

I also tried PotPlayer (newer KMPlayer alternative) and it bombarded me with frequent update pop-ups I couldn't find how to disable.
Maybe worth mentioning is that I also tried PowerDVD and a few others but they gave me stutters (i3 8100, r9 280, 16GB DDR4, SSD) so I'd prefer something that's not demanding on hardware (biggest 4k movies played would be 15GB-20GB in size).

Id say vlc with a dark ui

i use k-lite codec pack with media player classic. it plays everything but dolby vision (they have been working on that i hear)

I know that it is more of library manager than media player at first glance but Kodi can open all files I throw at it and have pretty manageable skins for dark UI.
