Hi everyone,

I'm currently using a system with an i5-12400F and an RX 6600, paired with a 1080p monitor. I'm considering upgrading to a 27-inch 1440p monitor.

I primarily use my PC for daily tasks (simple Microsoft apps that do not require much) and gaming—mainly Dota 2 and other esports titles. My main concern is whether my GPU can handle 1440p gaming for these titles effectively, so I’d really appreciate your input on whether this upgrade makes sense.

Thanks in advance!

Not really. You do get a bigger picture, but gaming will still be 1080p.

the 6600 xt (the model up from your) is at the bottom for 1440p gaming, I would wait till you get a better gpu before you go 1440p.

I use an RX 6600 paired with a 1440p monitor. You can always reduce details or resolution in game, or use FSR to make games run with decent performance.

A monitor is something you typically keep for a long time, so I would not base that decision on the GPU you have right now. Outside of gaming, 1440p will simply give you more screen real estate.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I think the main problem is that I am using a 27 inch FHD monitor right now, so outside of gaming, watching movies or Youtube feels a bit bad - and that's why I want to upgrade.

But now knowing that my system will probably not be able to handle it, I will wait until I upgrade my system (maybe in about a few years) before I upgrade the monitor.

Thanks everyone and have a good day.

Hi all, to follow-up,

I have checked with local pc shops for GPUs within my budget for 1440p, and the 3 available GPUs are Rx7600, Rtx 3070 and Rx 6700xt. I understand that both rx6700xt and rtx3070 are better than the rx7600 and though the rtx3070 is slightly better than the rtx 3070, it is about 25% more expensive.

Please advise further on which GPU to choose. Thank you.
