Is the 5080 worth the extra 350 USD over the 5070ti. By the time the 5070ti got obsolete, the 5080 likely not gonna running anything as well ?

5080 is faster. If that difference for the cost is worth it for you, only you can decide.

I did want a 5080 originally but lack of availability meant I ended up with a MSRP 5070 Ti. Good enough, I no longer feel a need to try for a 5080.

5080 is around 10% faster and has some more OC room I think, so it may be +15%

Atm 5070 ti at $950 is better value than 5080 at $1300+ sure

Anyway, it'll take ages before any of these "won't run anything", as you can still run things on a 10 years old 980 ...

In-game, it's up to +20fps depending on the title in 1440p Ultra. It may matter years down the line where those fps make a difference between platable or not, but by that time, the GPU will already be obsolete anyway. (clickable)

Price difference is more in percentage than fps difference because there're also more NVENC/NVDEC chips in RTX 5080. They don't result in bigger performance in games, only in something like DaVinci Resolve or OBS.

Purify your Windows 10/11, don't give Microsoft anything that you don't want to share.
