need help choosing an internal hard drive between Toshiba enterprise and wd purple and gold

Hi. I was looking for a storage device for mainly home usage and in my area, most wd drives are available only in purple which I heard is not the best option for home usage among wd products..., I've seen these 2 toshiba ones there and I wanted to see if these are good options for home usage! :
Toshiba MG06ACA10TE 10TB 267$
Toshiba MG07ACA12TE 12TB 292$

also there is a seagate one :
Exos ST14000NM001G 276$

I also saw an 8tb wd gold for 199$
WD8004FRYZ

Honestly I didn't need that much capacity(over 10TB) but ALL available drives on lower storage are wd purple and black where black ones are TOO expensive

personally think the wd gold one would be a better choice but was wondering if Toshiba ones are better than wd gold since I have no information about Toshiba drives
thanks for the help in advance 🙂
PS : I mostly use the drive for storing movies, series, pictures and stuff like that, no game files or software installation on it at all...

Just Do It..

Use case?

I have a pair of older Toshiba MG05 8TB enterprise drives and they just work like any other.

More recently I started using the Seagate Barracuda (SMR) drives for bulk storage since they're quite a lot cheaper, as long as you're not looking for high performance.

I edited my post and mentioned the use case 🙂
as I said at the moment all available ones in my place are just purple ones.... they are sold out and god knows when the stores will bring!
there are a few 1 and 2TB other brands but I need it to be 4+ TB which all are whether wd pruple or the few ones I said above 😞

otherwise I have to wait for other options to be available again or a friend to go on vacation and bring it for me from another country which Idk if it worth the wait!

CMR WD Drives are too pricey. And you don't really need an enterprise-grade drive.

How about Seagate Skyhawk, the 7200RPM ones? Or Toshiba X300 Performance? They are cheaper and more suitable for home use.

There's a reason for that.  I can always enjoy Louis Rossman's rants are usually entertaining, but this one is about Seagate, and I share the same opinion, so I particularly enjoyed that one.

I use Toshiba's external drives, haven't had any problems. Internal drives, I use WD drives (Gold at this point, as it's the only way to get drives large enough).

Toshiba's are great. Their N300 Pro may be even better than Gold.

as our friend here showed the link, I'm afraid of seagate even though I even marked one exos (I marked it to see if ppl have any opinion on seagate drives) and also ALL seagate available products here at the moment are Exos, NON others are available... so availability is also a problem for me at the moment... I don't even mind if I had to go for an external drive since it's mostly used for storing my stuff... but I thought maybe internal ones would last longer? correct me if I am wrong!

as for the N300 there is only  6TB and 8TB available which both are a bit more expensive than they should be and also since they were made for server mailnly, I thought maybe it'd be better to not go for them!

Consumer-grade drives are either low-performance CMR(ex, Barracuda) or cost like NAS drives (Barracuda Pro). Sliding into drives like N300 Performance and Seagate Skyhawk that offer the same as Pro NAS drives minus enterprise certifications and price. "Availability" is a bitch. I guess that's what you call a "niche market", as it is nowadays.

so overall after seeing my limitations, do u suggest I go for that ultrastar or is it a bad one? I have no clue what it is tbh xD but in that vide our friend sent, the guy says he really likes the wd ultrastar drives! idk how reliable one person can be but he seems legit...
or should I go for the Toshiba 12TB one or the wd gold 8TB !?
or should I just wait for the shop to bring sth new or a friend to go on vacation xD?

If both are 7200RPM, more storage is more storage. I say Toshiba.

Addition. Do verify that the specific TOSHIBA drive isn't SMR.
edit: irrelevant for 12 TB. Sorry.

I checked them and all 3 (both Toshiba ones and the wd gold one) are CMR, so rn it's just my budget I guess to choose between the Toshiba 12TB (since I think between the 2 Toshiba ones 12TB has better TB/Price ratio!) and 8TB wd gold!
thanks for all your helps 🙂

Yeah. At that tier and purpose, whatever gets you more TB for less.
