Playing web videoes in VLC?

Can you somehow drag urls to VLC & play them?

It's not always working, it depends on the stream.

In VLC press control + N and there paste the link.

Looks like you can't drag stuff out of a browser window and hand it to an icon
If it were possible, you could create a file named "PlayInVlc.bat" with the contents
`"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" %1` 
That would take whatever you drop on the icon and hand it to VLC.

Hmmm, woulf a script for linux work if it was changed to "/usr/bin/vlc"
 %1'? Nope, nothing happened,so  I drug a address to VLC & it errored out. I got this in term. Warning: Could not find '/home/nickj/Desktop/vlc.sh', starting '/bin/bash' instead.  Please check your profile. settings. Pasted right into the term. opens VLC.

IF the URL was directly to a video file you could, but that's not how web players work... they actually usually make it difficult to find the actual file URL to avoid downloading.

Good point, any idea why the linux scrip doesn't work, when I right click & say run in konsole. The odd thing is pasting the same comand opens vlc?

%1 is how you access parameters on Windows batch scripts, bash on linux is different, read up on that.

That's not the notation for arguments in a bash script. You'd need $1

Also, do ensure you have VLC set up properly to play from whatever source you're using. I know it won't out of the box do vimeo or YT, you need additional configuring/plugins which are going to constantly change as those services play whackamole
