I was wondering if I should undervolt and long-term I might but I thought I'd check more thoroughly before doing anything drastic first... but now I'm wondering is this really how they're designed? (it does say thermal trip limit 125c lol 馃憖)

Not a hitch while playing MH Wilds btw...馃槑

These temps are during gameplay?

Gee... the good thing is this is assumingly a notebook, right?

Laptop chips are known for running until they throttle. And there's no harm in trying an undervolt if you don't mind potential stability issues if you take it too far. The max operating temperature is 100C according to AMD.

Yeah, I know (although my old LENOVO with an i5 maxes out at like 75c , it's a "u" model tho...)

I mean... stability issues is exactly what I want to avoid, I know pbo can be finicky. I tried limiting the cpu to 55w in armoury crate, but that didn't seem to do much temp wise (still spikes to 80c just on desktop)聽

And yes, max operating temp is 100, trip limit is 125 tho, and it apparently didn't throttle at 99c, so technically it's ok I guess.

Yup, and it's not constantly 99c, more like 85-95 or so... And it definitely feels like the CPU isn't doing much anyway (around 30% total usage iirc)

Zen4 is designed to run 95掳C constantly so it shouldn't be an issue, especially in a laptop during load.聽

Yeah for now I'm probably not going to undervolt, but if it gets hot during summer I might have to lol聽

30% "total" means out of all 16 cores and 32 threads only 30% is utilized.
