Current specs: i5 13400F, 16 GB DDR4 single channel, MSi PRO H610M-E, MSI MAG 650, GT 1030.

Part needed to be upgraded: GPU

Current Scope: 1080P max settings + 60hz resolution.

Future Scope: to be able to play other games on 144hz + 1080p high setting.

Budget: 25000rs (300$ or less)
Cards I've scouted:  RX6600 8GB, RX 7600 8GB, RTX 3060, RTX 4060

RX 7600 XT 16GB and RTX 4060 8GB are over my budget but I'm willing to pay the price if it can offer better performance (they are over 30000rs+, which is over (350+USD)

Please share me your advice as I'm not well aware of this GPU market. I just want to play games lag free. Thank you!

right now the 7600 xt 16gb is your best choice. 8 gig of vram is starting to be on the lower end for games at medium settings.

With the release of the 5060 Ti 8GB, you may have seen numerous videos complaining about these cards and the limited future potential of 8GB, even at lower resolutions.

Sooo, I'm of the mind, you either go cheap (which is usually a 6600), or you go 12GB+.

It could be worth waiting for the 9060/9060 XT. I certainly wouldn't want to buy a 4060/7600 XT for 350 USD right now, if I could help it.

That said, any of those cards will be a HUGE upgrade from what you have.

Consider as well Intel's options, their first generation or second. That being the A770 or B580. Check prices on RX 6700XT/6750XT in your region, those should come close-ish and are a great drop in upgrade for your system at 1080p.

RX 7600 XT is a decent card, the RTX 4060 8GB is not. You'd want 12GB cards or more in 2025, 8GB discrete cards being obsolescent in too many modern games.

Just FYI, depending on what games you're talking about, a 13400F isn't going to be 'lag free' even with an RTX 5090. Some games run into hard CPU limitations, even below 60 fps at 480p low settings. Its very application dependent. You're still heavily limited by a GT 1030 in comparison to any of the cards listed, just something to keep in mind after your dGPU upgrade.

Thank you for replying all three of you, I'm confused now:

So, what are my best options? It feels like the only budget king is RTX 3060 based on your suggestions. One person said how RX 7600XT isn't good price to performance (350$ in my country). RX 6750 doesn't exist in my country as well.

Thank you.

Budget king is the b580 but well depends on the price.

Also be mindfull that running a single stick of ram can have up to a 50% drop in performance in games due to memory bandwith limits.

Go for the RX6650XT if you can and if it's cheaper than the RX7600 (it should be well within your budget really). Pay less, get similar performance to the 7600 without having to worry about the 7600 turning your PC into a nuclear reactor.

I'm not going to lie though, these days with modern games, even at 1080p, max settings eat VRAM for breakfast. 8GB will do the job but idk for how long.

Unfortunately the RX 7600 XT  16GB is just shit value. Basically a 7600 with more VRAM.

In any case, I don't mean to worry you with all the VRAM talk. Just go look for the 6650 XT and you'll get good value IMHO.

Most of the suggestions are ambiguous because they're entirely dependent on your region or local market. Without knowing the prices you'd be paying on a given part, the absolute best choice can be entirely different by the day even.

RTX 3060 isn't just 12GB, there's also a trash 8GB version on the market. I'd probably stay away from it in 2025 for multiple reasons, especially since the RX 6700XT/6750XT exists and probably at a better or similar price.

@pinis-man Worth factoring in getting a second stick of RAM into your GPU budget, DDR4 16GB DIMMs are like $30.

I will get a RAM stick but I want to spend my vbucks on this card, I will add RAM later once I do GPU purchase and get over buyer's remorse.

RX 7750XT and RX 6650XT is not available in India. Too expensive.

Tricky. How long do you plan to keep this card? Do you plan to play the latest AAA games?

Can you wait for the 9060/9060 XT, or do you want to buy now?

7600 XT would be my choice out of the options generally speaking. RTX 4060 if you're only ever playing 1080p and non-AAA games.

I plan to play latest AAA games + at least 5 years and yes I can wait, but I'm not hopeful about 9060/9060 XT as these cards will take long time to come to India AFAIK, even if they come, I don't think the prices would be affordable. 😞

7600XT it is, but I will wait till end of this year. Thank you.

5 years? Yikes. Then I'm afraid despite your limited budget I'm going to be forced to say: none of the above.

The 7700 XT is the only one in your list that I'd consider for 5 years of AAA games.

If budget cards are more your style, even a GTX 1650 will be a major upgrade over your 1030, and the wait until the end of the year (which you discussed above) will be less painful with one of these in your rig. You may sell it when you have the money for the "big guns". The 1650 doesn't consume much power (or produce lots of heat) so it fits in with many, many systems without a PSU upgrade being necessary.

Ignore cards that only have 8GB VRAM. Only consider ones that has 12GB or more.

It matters that you don't just give up.”
