The screen was cracked due to it being sat on, I have since replaced the screen and it still won’t turn on. I have connected a hdmi cable to the laptop and it works, I see my computer but my display still won’t even light up. I am at a complete loss as to what may be the issue

Are you sure the internal monitor's ribbon cable is properly connected? Have you made certain nothing else got damaged inside the laptop?

ribbon cables for monitors are a pain in the butt sometimes, depending on the type of clip it can be hard to tell if it's properly connected, some of the ones that have the locking system which you have to push down and lock in place are the worst, sometimes you think it's latched on but if the central contact didn't end up at all inside the hole you'll still feel like it's inside, i hate them so much... if the connection is made with the really flat ribbon cable which goes inside the socket and you have to pull down a "lever" check for the flat to be fully inside and the latch closed properly buy gently pulling after you secured down the lever, sometime it seems locked (and it might be) but the contact is not fully made

i use Arch (Btw™) but i will not bother you with the linux is better then windows war ❤️
