Hi Everyone, I'm looking to build a new PC, I'm coming from Mac so not super knowledgeable around specs, I built a hackintosh many years ago and felt comfortable with putting it together so not worried about that part, but I'm not super knowledgeable about current specs and particular find the AMD CPU's confusing. I've put a part list together but very open to change and have some older parts too that could perhaps be used.

Budget (including currency): 1000-1500CAD + tax and shipping for base machine minus graphic card. Will most likely get a 5080

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly Blender and Photoshop

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Parts I already have that could perhaps be used

CX750 power supply (not sure if this works with new motherboard, graphic card or has enough power?)

4 noctua fans

Old fractal design R4 case (will this work?)

Noctua NH-D14 Cooler ( Can this be converted and used for new setup?)

(Above was used for an intel build, LGA 1150 socket i believe, I7 CPU 4770)

This is a part list I've put together so far:

CPU
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 4.7 GHz 12-Core Processor

$484.96

CPU Cooler
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE ARGB

66.17

Motherboard
Gigabyte X870 EAGLE WIFI7 ATX AM5 Motherboard

$297.95

Memory
G.Skill Flare X5 96 GB (2 x 48 GB) DDR5-5200 CL40 Memory

$239.99

Storage
Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X2 NVME Solid State Drive

$203.96

Power Supply
be quiet! Pure Power 12 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply

$144.99

Base Total:    $1450.85

Yes and it would be sufficient for your intended CPU, but since your cooler is that old it may need a mounting kit. I think this is the one:

https://noctua.at/en/nm-am5-4-mp83-mounting-kit/specification

If you contact Noctua, they're usually excellent at aftersales support.

it would work (subject to adapters for e.g. graphics), but since you're building a new PC and thinking about a 5080, I'd prefer a new ATX 3.x PSU of 850+.

Yup, subject to PSU, GPU and cooler height restrictions as noted in the specs (I believe they only apply if you're using certain fan mounts or HDD cage?).

Green, Gray, or Black label?

Former and latter, very much a good time to change. 2nd option, you can very much run as is.

Pull the front dust cover and door, and itll work. Remove the excess drive bays if need be to fit the GPU, itll give you 430mm clearance which is a plenty for a lot of GPUs.
