ASUS B560M Plus-The computer case is open... Fatal error!

Go to solution Solved by Dutch_Master,

Could be either or both, frankly. Reality is, sadly, that unless someone with experience can actually get hands-on with the board, we're basically shooting blind. Remote troubleshooting is a royal PITA and we've done what we could to help. Find someone local that you can trust and have him/her go over the system in person to see what's actually wrong.

Hi all,

My pc was running fine but is now unable to boot due to the attached error.

"please enter setup to recover bios setting. The computer case is open. Please make sure the computer case is closed properly then press ctrl alt delete to continue. Fatal error"

If I press ctrl alt del then it just restarts and comes back to the same screen.

I have a tuf gaming B560M plus.

Things I have tried so far:

Reseting ram

Removing ram sticks

Changing the gpu

Changing cmos battery

Shorting the intrusion pins

Changing prephierals

Using a USB stick to boot into win 11 setup

Checked all wires and connections

Scoured google

I have also tried getting into the bios to disable the check in there but the pc doesn't let me boot into bios. Even when I restart and the Bios option comes up it instantly reverts to the attached screen.

Help!

Enter the BIOS, then find the setting for intrusion alarm and turn that off. Case solved 🙂

I can't get into the bios. Tried spamming the del and f2 key but both don't work.." I have also tried getting into the bios to disable the check in there but the pc doesn't let me boot into bios. Even when I restart and the Bios option comes up it instantly reverts to the attached screen. "

Ah, that's a bummer 🙁  In that case, resolving this means you'd have to look for the switch detecting an open case and the wiring between it and the mainboard. Check the wires are firmly attached on both sides and that the actual switch works. Then, with the case still open, press the switch and try booting the PC while keeping the switch pressed! If that works, enter the BIOS and disable the intrusion alarm.

Would Modern cases usually even have this switch? I thought this switch was reserved for old business pcs.

The case I have is a modern MasterBox MB520 case and I can't see any switches like that.

In that case only a full CMOS reset might be able to clear the error. After that, pretty much out of ideas as physical access is impossible for us.

I've tried a full cmos reset e.g taking out the cmos... Waiting 15 minutes and re inserting. Unfortunately I get the same error and I have even replaced the battery with a new one.

Do you think the motherboard is broke or bios somehow corrupted?
