Hey

Heres the story little shorter. I built a low budget pc and first nothing was wrong but after a few months when i was playing cs2 the pc randomly shut off but the motherboard leds were still on and i couldnt restart the pc, only after i turned the psu off and on again, first i tought its ram so i took it back where i bought it from, they tested it and they said nothing is wrong with it, so i took it home and everything was fine, then after a few months it started happening again, I launched cs2 after it loaded in the lobby and my character it turned off and leds were on and had to turn off the psu and on again to boot up the pc, i swapped the rams position with all the possibilities and it was still doing it, started playing with the voltage and STILL did it, it launches R.E.P.O perfectly fine, minecraft and all these easy games, but when it comes to more pc demanding games it shuts off, sometimes it works for a few hours and then it starts doing it again

Heres the pc specs:

GPU: Asus rog gtx 1050 ti

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600x

Motherboard: Aorus B550 Elite V2

RAM: Teamgroup 2x8GB DDR4

PSU: Some noname 13 year old psu i found laying around in an old pc

My suspicion is the psu for obvious reasons

get a new psu, they degrade over time. check event viewer and if there is a kernel 41 error then its most likely the psu. I would highly recommend getting a new psu even if it isn't the problem. sorry that is sounds repetitive.

Sounds like you’re overloading the power supply. If it’s 13 years old and was “randomly laying around” and wasn’t even high quality to start with that should be your first step even if that isn’t necessarily the issue. Check the Windows Event viewer, if you’re getting Event ID 41 it indicates that something is shutting it down without Windows wanting it to. Also see if you can figure out how many watts that psu is.

edit: strange13930 I saw you commented as I was writing this, seems like we said the exact same thing lol
