Is my i9-14900k cooked?

Ok, long story short, trying to play Rainbow 6 for the first time and was dealing with the game not able to launch.

 

One Redditor mentioned downloading Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and changing the Performance Core Ratio down one. For me it 57x -> 56x.

 

Ended up solving several crashing/bluescreen problems I've been having in the past 6-8 months. 

 

One commenter on that post I saw mentioned how a core is probably bad in CPU. I'm wondering if that's true and whether it's worth getting a new CPU (AMD this time lol) or just keeping it underclocked.

I'm overexaggerating a little bit, it's working great now. Downside is I have to open Intel tuning every time I restart and change the setting.

XMP has never worked for me and my games crash constantly, but again I reduced the clock speed and it worked so I think fine.

Maybe see if you can RMA it with Intel?

FYI: you should have an extended warranty on a retail box K CPU (5 year), even with a tray CPU worth asking the seller if they can help.
