Budget (including currency): 1000-1200 (can go a bit more but would rather not)

Country: Portugal

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I play mainly Ark Survival Evolved, Marvel Rivals, League of Legends, Warzone, Palworld and do a bit of Software development. I would like to be able to play games like Ark Survival Ascended and MH Wilds at least in medium settings.

Other details:

I've been looking to upgrade the build that I have which is a bit outdated (at least the GPU and CPU, I built this desktop around 2018) and stutters a bit in some of the games and I've been thinking if I should build one from scratch or if I should upgrade.

This is my current build:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB (Gaming X) Motherboard: MSI B350 TOMAHAWK (MS-7A34) RAM: 16 GB DDR4 Storage: * 2 × 500 GB SSD (SATA) * 1 × 1 TB M.2 SSD Power Supply: Cooler Master MWE Bronze 550W
Case: Nox Hummer ZX

I have two 24.5 inch 1080p60Hz monitors. The graphics quality is not that important for me, as long as they are decent and that I can run the games I like to play at 60fps and 1080p.

I'm not planning on upgrading the monitors soon so I would probably stay at 1080p 60fps for a while but I've been having difficulty thinking if I should buy a very good graphics card so it lasts me as much as my 1060 has lasted. I don’t game heavily as I have 2 small kids so it won’t have an extensive use.

I'm from Portugal but can order from nearby countries like Spain/France.

This is the build that I thought about but I think the GPU is possibly overkill.

I didn't add storage as I already have more than enough

This was a build recommendation on Reddit that I liked but I see so many people hating on the 5070 that I don’t know if it’s worth the extra money.

Thanks in advance

The 1060 is fairly slow by modern standards, so you don't have to spend much to replace it (especially for 1080p).

I suspect something like a 9060 XT would be plenty good enough for you.

CPU: similar story to the GPU, even a 5600 would be a great upgrade.

Thank you for your opinion!

Yes I was wondering if upgrading was enough for a few years or if I had to spend more and build something from scratch.

Depends on your requirements of course, but I think an upgrade like that would happily last another 2-3 years at 1080p.

The 7800 XT is nice, but really intended for 1440p and difficult to recommend now that the 9070 and 9070 XT are available and have something like FSR4 which is such a big step forward and we're not sure if it'll apply to the 7000 cards.

I'll stay at 1080p 60fps on those games I mentioned, I don't play a lot of new things and even if I do end up playing something, I have no problem playing at medium settings or even lower, as long as I can get a stable gameplay, that's all I'm looking for.

I'm probably just going to upgrade as I don't have that much time to play so sinking that amount of money in a new build is probably not worth it. I will wait until the 9060 launches and I'm going to watch some comparisons to check if the ryzen 7 5700x3d is worth it for me or if something like the 5600 is enough.

The 7800 is overkill for 1080P.

From what you're saying, I suspect you'd get more than 2-3 years from it, even with the 5600, though a 5700X3D would be nice for 1080p and it would potentially be just enough to take another GPU after the 9060/9060 XT.

Just at a glance I would think upgrading the CPU (am4) to the 5000 series would go along way. You could do so pretty affordable and am4 should be supported for a little longer.

Similarly upgrading the GPU would be a big jump too and get you some longer life, this is the expensive route regardless of new build or upgrade, so no escaping that.
