Should I get my RAM to 6000mHz?

Yes

Does it makes my build really better, or does it crash (more) often?

It'll make it faster, and while it does technically increase the risk of crashing, it's very rare for that to actually happen. Usually there are no downside, the system is just faster.

Does this is somehow really bad for my RAM, other parts?

No.

Do the RAM and Mainboard match?

Yeah, it's fine. With DDR5, the QVL doesn't exactly matter that much as most of it is the same across brands.

I tried to look it up on the GIGABAYTE side, but the exact RAM isn't mentioned..

This is the kit that you linked on PCPP, which is on Gigabyte's QVL.

Hallo, I am building a new PC, with an old GTX1060(6GB) and an 600W bequiet! pure power 11 powersupply.

I was choosing after some on this forum recommended:

Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2

AMD Ryzen 5 7600

GIGABYTE B650 Gaming X AX V2

 G.Skill Ripjaws S5 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory

I was now watching a video or two. People said I should "overclock" my RAM that it runs on 6000mHz for better/good performance of my CPU. In an other video someone said its really important to check compatibility (of drivers etc) of RAM with Mainboard (and maybe CPU) especially when wanting to overclock it (as XPO(?)). I tried to look it up on the GIGABAYTE side, but the exact RAM isn't mentioned..

Now before unpacking the parts I wanted to check if thats all fine.

Now some questions:

Should I get my RAM to 6000mHz? Does it makes my build really better, or does it crash (more) often?

Does this is somehow really bad for my RAM, other parts?

Do the RAM and Mainboard match?

Big thanks to anyone who can help 🙂

Just out of interest. The v on the gigabyte side QVL is just for XMP and not EXPO. V is for support? Or doesnt it matter at all?

They mark a 'v' in the column to determine what's supported (no idea why it's a 'v' and not a checkmark or an X like other places, but whatever), so that kit supports XMP. That's just a property of the memory kit you bought, it's an XMP memory kit.

Realistically though, that doesn't matter. Outside of the initial BIOS revisions, XMP vs. EXPO does not practically matter. Technically EXPO is AMD optimized while XMP is Intel optimized, but both work on both platforms with minimal to no performance differences. It's like Coke vs. Pepsi, yeah everyone has their preference, but at the end of the day they're still trying to do the same thing.

So should I choose XMP or EXPO for overclocking? Cause AMD likes EXPO I guess and the RAM likes XMP.

EXPO won't be an option because the sticks don't support it, you'll only have XMP. The BIOS might call it DOCP though because XMP is technically an Intel trademark and I forget if Gigabyte pays the licensing fee to put it in their AMD BIOS (some manufacturers do, some like ASUS don't).

And the max memory specs listed on the AMD side for the 7600 are not a prob as well?

Max Memory Speed
2x1R
DDR5-5200
2x2R
DDR5-5200
4x1R
DDR5-3600
4x2R
DDR5-3600

Thats default speeds without xmp or expo. Basically means it will try to run ddr5 at one of these out of the box.

Ok, so even if i can return the RAM, you think I dont need to, and can just go with this one and those settings? 🙂

sorry for the many questions, I just dont want to mess up 😄

Its fine just use it
