Got thermal paste in and on my power supply’s main connector

Good, then its non conductive and not an issue.  Just try to clean what you can and plug it in, no problem at all.

I have seen CPU sockets with a lot of paste with CPU's working just fine.

 

Just wanted to make sure cause if the paste was conductive, there would be a lot more problems.

The main connector for the mother board which has the most pins (can’t think of the exact name) has thermal paste on and slightly in it and I don’t know how to clean it without isopropyl alcohol and whether it will be safe to use, please help

If the paste is non conductive it doesn't really matter.
Can you take a picture of it so we can see?

on modern motherboards, this is the 24 pin connector, corresponding to the 20+4 pin connector on the power supply

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

So even if I plug it in the thermal paste won’t affect the connection between pins? My worry was not it affecting the part but the connection being less powerful due to thermal paste being in the way, I jsut want to know if I should clean it will it be okay to use even if it’s not cleaned completely and has globs or thermal paste marks I cannot get to in the conenctor pins, and thank you for elaborating the name

Try to remove a bit of it with some cloth ( dont leave any fibres behind ) or cotton swab.

Alright that’s all I needed to know, I’ve had such horrible luck and I’m scared to do anything (hence the questions and my choice to start over with a new pc completely )

There is barely if any paste inside the holes so the connectors in the motherboard will make good contact still.

 

What exact paste are you using?  I can double check if its conductive or not 🙂 

That looks runny though, is it NT-H2?

If I’m being completely honest I wouldn’t know off by heart but I do remember that the sticker with what I can assume it’s name was dark blue

Could it be MX-4?  This is non conductive.

Its basically one of few pastes that is dark blue in color for the tube itself.
