G915 feels a bit wobbly/plastic ish. Am I being oversensitive?

Hi everyone, I just bought a logitech G915. I had tried the G515 in the store but couldn't get to try the G915. The 515 felt pretty tight in its keys, but now that I have the 915 in front of me it feels a tad wobbly. Are there keyboards that feels tighter or am I just being overly sensitive? I guess I HD just expected more of a premium feel over my old mk700

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

What switches did you get? The G915 has 3 different switches.

I have tactile switches on my G915, in the beginning it did feel quite wobbly compared to my older Hyperx Elite Alloy RGB... But after using it for a bit its not something I notice or pay attention to anymore.

Battery life is also absolutely fantastic on this wireless keyboard.

There are tighter keyboards, it depends on the design that the manufacturer went with and if they wanted to make a tighter keyboard or not, and the quality of the switches they used.

Its the tactile version. But yes, maybe I should try to tough it out and see if I grow used to it. I pretty quickly got used to the new layout when typing on it.

Okay, any suggestions? I looked a bit on the Corsair K100 air. But it's 33% more expensive (2000 DKK vs 1500 DKK for the G915), and I'm already feeling I'm in the heavy end of what I want to spend. (I can afford it, but do I want to?)

Try to tough it out, I really enjoy the keyboard now. I have had it for 7 months now.

In the beginning my first reaction was actually.. What the fuck is this?

But now I really do enjoy it.  Took me a week or two and I got used to it.

I mainly game and I don't type that much so its not that much of a problem for me.

If I had to type for work, I would have returned it.

If you don’t care as much about looks you could just find one with tighter keys. I’m still using the cheap key board that came with my pc but it’s on the nicer side for the price. I agree with @Hinjima try to use it longer before getting something else so you can get used to it.

The first day or two I actually couldn't type at all due to muscle memory from my old keyboard.

But with anything, you will get used to it.  Just give it time.

OK, I'll give it a bit more time. But I shouldn't play too much on it if I intend to return it, so it's a balance

I had one (TKL) and indeed it's kinda mushy, didn't like it, not a fan of the LP caps neither and it's not customizable

Replaced it with an Azoth, much better (it's overpriced, granted, but finding good white/silver AZERTY custom keebs is such a pain)

It depends on what is the cause for the wobbliness. In general, the main culprit will be switches and keycaps. Switches usually have some wobble in them since the stem needs some clearance to not bind up easily. So they can rock around a little and the result is that the keys feel wobbly. Similarly, the keycaps might not fit well.

In custom keyboards, or ones where you can swap between any MX style switches, I would go for HMX switches (they have very little stem wobble in my experience) or any of the 'roller' switches. My favorite ones are the Roller linear blacks from KBDfans, but those are currently out of stock everywhere. A new batch is apparently in production. Their trick is that they actually have 8 tiny ball bearings inside them and virtually zero stem wobble while also not binding up or having much resistance other than the spring.

Okay, was it the G915 or G515 TLK?

Okay. I guess it's just that the G515 is a bit different from the G915 then. Unfortunately.

I think I'm going to return it. I discussed it with my wife and as she put it, if I'm not sure I can really feel the difference or improvement, why am I spending 1500 DKK on it. Maybe I'm just an uneducated pleb who can't appreciate the quality, but I played yesterday on the G915 and today on the old mk700, and apart from my old keyboard being a bit sluggish due to old age, I didn't miss the other one. So I think I'll be giving the MX Keys S a go instead. I like the low profile of the keys for typing. But since it's Easter, I'll have a few days before I have time to do the return in case I change my mind again. 😅

Thanks for the help and responses everybody.

Just a quick follow up.

I got the MX Keys S.

It fits better to my expectations and the feel I was going for. And even if there are minor nitpicks, paying 50% of what the G915 costs makes it way more acceptable to me.

I talked with a colleague who turned out to be a keyboard enthusiast, and if I decide to go for something more exclusive in the future he will help me customizing a Keycron K5 or something
