I feel like making the free shipping requirement price $150 is deceptive, as it is forcing the customer to spend extra if they want free shipping. So customers might buy extra items they don't really need, only to satisfy the price requirement. For example, if I wanted to buy the Commuter Backpack, and get free shipping, I would have to buy something else, because the total was 1 cent short. It would be great if the free shipping requirement was $149 instead.

This is common practice in almost every shop.

Of course they want you to buy more, they are a business.. Not charity.

Well, yeah. From the retailer's perspective, getting customers to buy more stuff is the whole point.

If someone spends more on stuff they don't need (just to get free shipping) than shipping for the stuff they actually wanted would have cost, that's on them.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

In my opinion, that's the wrong way to do that. Making the free shipping 1 cent more just feels scummy.

that is EXACTLY what the entire sale is meant to do: push larger orders out the door.

assume $150 is by design, if they wanted to ship you the backpack for free, the offer would be free shipping with a backpack.

and if you feel like this is predatory, deceptive, or scummy... find me one sales event that is not engineered to make consumers spend more money than they otherwise would.

Shipping costs money, when you're not paying for it they are. If the order is too small the margin on the products is eaten by the shipping cost or worse they're just losing money overall and it makes no sense. They decided that amount was where the right balance is.

Giftcards exist, and so does the water bottle lid which was very cheap. There are ways to get slightly over that amount, it's a little misleading I totally agree especially when you get to checkout just to discover you have to add more stuff to your cart which isn't a great feeling, but I suppose that's the intention so they can push orders. Maybe they should have done free shipping on specific items (I.E backpack, screwdriver + smaller screwdriver bundle, etc.) so there's less confusion in the future

What an entitled, bitter, greedy opinion.

None of this gear is neccessary to your continued existence or quality of life.

Ok lets chill out, I don't think OP is "bitter" and "greedy" in any way, that's a little excessive. They're a customer, and if something LTT does makes them unhappy then it's totally fair for them to give feedback, such things are needed for a functioning store. Even negative feedback is needed, but it doesn't make them entitled.

Keep in mind that I am sometimes wrong, so please correct me if you believe this is the case!

My local honey shop. PLEASE stop giving me more honey. 1+2 is TOO MUCH IM DROWNING. NOO DONT ADD EVEN MORE DISCOUNTS I WANT TO PAY YOU PLEASSE. I bought 2.5l of locally made honey for 6€ last week :'D. I just needed like a small jar and payed the price of a single medium jar for like 10 of them.

Else yeah nah all of this is using every psychological trick in the book. This is a fomo+chump sale of yeah don't wanna miss out on the backpack but also dont wanna be a chump that pays for shipping on a sale so I'll add something cheap to get free shipping. usual shenanigans really.
