Laptop GPU temp get stuck after Nvidia driver update. (Update)

Go to solution Solved by Danijel.P,

Zrdavo Velja,

You need to rollback your nvidia driver to 566.36
There are issues for the 40 series with the newer drivers and this is a solution that I myself had to do with my laptop that has a 4070.
You can google this to confirm that what Im suggesting is true.
Good luck and please let me know if it helped. 🙂

I have ASUS TUF F15 (507VV)
-I7 13620H (with UHD)
-2x8GB 5200Mhz DDR5
-512GB NVMe SSD
-Nvida RTX 4060 8GB with MUX Switch

-Windows 11 24H2

Problem came few days ago after Nvidia update driver 576.02, the temp gets stuck what ever the boot temp is, (35-60C) and stays there, all programs for monitoring say the same except Nvidia app. The problem is not present when i play on Nvidia GPU only (Ultimate mode in Armory Crate, MUX Switch to dGPU only) so for now i run it like that, when im in MSHybrid(Standard mode in Armory Crate, or Optimus) where Windows decides what gpu will be using, the temp gets stuck, my concern is that the Armory Crate also gets stuck in Standard mode, i don't know 100% but i think fan control is controlled through it. When i stress it the fans do ramp up, and the Nvidia app see maybe a bit higher temps, but still i would like to fix this issue, i like to keep it in MSHybrid mode because i use it off charger also and in that mode it automatically switches the dGPU off for better battery, if i use it like this i have to restart every time i want to use Eco mode.

(Pic bellow of problem, when running FurMark, gpu temp stuck in 56C, Nvidia app says 79C and its correct, HWMonitor reads hot spot, but gpu temp is also stuck)

Update: I tested and i can confirm that FAN Speed is working even when temps are stuck. Still would like to fix it.

Thing i tried:

-DDU

-Go back to older version of Nvidia driver

-Switch between modes (Standard, Ultimate, Eco), even turn off Nvidia GPU fully.

-Advance Optimus select between Optimus or Nvidia GPU only doesn't fix the problem, its still stuck

Cool! Just my experience that 566.36 is the most stable for the 40 series. Roll back further if it you run into trouble.
