Ordered the commuter bag. Question about VAT.

In the recent free shipping promotion I decided to bite the bullet and order the commuter backpack and a button up.

Yesterday I received a FedEX import slip.

I understand I need to pay import fees. But I fear they will also charge me 22% VAT on my purchase because my total was over 150€.

How does the taxes part of the LLT order work? I know it's calculated at the checkout with shipping but is that the correct tax or is it Canada sales tax?

This is my first order on LTTstore over 150€ so I'm a bit out of my depth. (The under 150€ orders haven't been a problem before)

 

Is my total cost = value of order + shipping+ Canada VAT + import fees + EU VAT? 

 

I read some other forum posts and some say that Shopify mistakenly charges VAT on EU orders over 150€. Is this true? What would be the best way to remedy the situation.

 

 

Will update post when I receive the import bill.

The store charges VAT for your country, even on orders over the 150€ limit (at least it did for my backpack order). when i got my original backpack I was only charged import duties not VAT from the postal service, so I think your milage may vary. since I've seen some report getting charged the VAT as well when it gets to customs, in that case you will have to contact support to get a refund on the tax they collected.
