Have you tried running your finger over the spots?

From the picture it appears that HP did a poor job sealing the screen and it seeped either on or under the screens protective overlay.

In either case, if it's within their return window return it to the store where you purchased it and get a replacement.

No I have not tried running my finger over the spots, i don't really want to touch the screen at all.

These marks seem to be uniform to be something soft like a sealant or something, there are 4 of them 2 on each side of the screen,  they look almost exactly the same when looked at with a direct light over them, my thought is maybe its just the edge of the LCD that has these markings during manufacturing prehaps, as from what I can tell these marks are not on the functioning part of the screen, they are within the tiny little border around it from what i can see but the margins there are a millimetre if that so not sure.

I am going to contact HP after the easter weekend and send them the photos and see what they say before I try and return.
