Budget (including currency):

1600 CAD, can be stretched bit if needed but ideally should stay below.

Country:

Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

TV gaming, 99% steam. Playing mostly indie games, some Baldur's Gate 3, some No Man's Sky, maybe a touch of MS Flight sim but I would be ok with it in low setting.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

The large majority of games I would like to play are on PC and I do not have one. My goal is to replace my ps4 with that computer for TV gaming, including some couch coop.

I have selected the Fractal Design Ridge as it's easy to fit in the the top space of a Bestå where my ps4 currently lives but I'm open to case suggestions that would fit and be cheaper/easier to build in.

The 8400F isn't a gaming cpu and your choice of RAM is an obvious bottleneck. You want DDR5-6000 CL30 for these AM5 cpu's.

Thanks for the CPU and RAM recommendations!
How much of an impact would that have? Following what you recommend while keeping in the Fractal Ridge is almost a full 200$ more as I cannot use the case you recommend nor the cheaper ATX size motherboard and power supply.

Any recommendations for a case that fits in a W550mm x H220mm x D350mm space would be welcome as all I can find so far other than the Ridge are 200+CAD htpc cases that are 10 year old designs.
