I've just gotten a new to bd795i se with a ryzen 7945hx processor but performance is lower than others in geekbench 6 even after taking steps to tune system. Theres a 20% difference in multicore performance between mine and others which is a bit too much

https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/compare/11505047?baseline=11524201

Tuning steps include

PTM7950 pad, original paste was a hardened pad(not good)

30mv undervolt in UXTU

Windows power profile better performance

AMD chipset drivers and graphics drivers installed

Tried running with a PCIE gpu and no performance difference

I got two ram kits 2x8gb samsung and hynix with the board

I didn't do any of the things you listed and below are my Geekbench results.

https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/11600543

I'm debating whether or not to sell this motherboard and buy the 795iM version instead of the ITX version but I've heard that on the ITX version the VRM's are cooled and on the MATX version they are not. Also the MATX has a PCIE 4.0 slot with no USB-C while the ITX version has a PCIE 5.0 slot along with a USB-C. My case is actually microATX supported and not ITX but I'm conflicted.

Must be a ram capacity thing with so much difference in multicore tests.

i don’t think it’s worth sidegrading to other boards unless there’s something beyond usb-c but that doesn’t seem to be present.

The minisforum AI X1 pro seems to have a lot more features added on with an AI processor, 3rd m.2, USB 4 and an actually overclockable chip but I don’t use those other features apart from more overclocking that would be so good.

Would like to report in case anyone else is reading about this board, mine completely failed just after 14-20 days of completely normal performance. It wasn't even abrupt. The computer was functioning completely fine, and I ended up just doing a simple restart within Windows. Then, complete black screen. I could power on the unit, fans would spin. But no BIOS or video output. I tried CMOS reset (through the button and through disconnecting the battery itself on the back of the board), iGPU and dGPU (trying both HDMI and DisplayPort for both graphics), different RAM, different SSD, different drive, with a graphics card, without a graphics card, nothing. Power button makes fans spin and continue spinning at a normal rate, but absolutely no POST, output, or anything. Dead. Replaced the board yesterday with another board from Amazon along with original components I was using, booted just fine and have been using for 24ish hours. Would like to also add, I found a user on another forum who reported the exact same symptoms and exact same way of dying (operating fine for a couple weeks, simply rebooted the system, dead).

Eek sorry to hear that. Mines off eBay but worth it at what I paid, hope you had warranty.

Was it the 7945hx version like mine? What psu, gpu and others parts where you running?

Hopefully someone is able to diagnose this issue so it doesn’t happen again.

Tried and also tried a completely different set of RAM (one stick, two sticks, swapping around). It was completely dead. Luckily it was in the 30 day return window of ordering from Amazon so I've been running the M-ATX version and so far so good.

I’m nursing a broken collar bone from today so apologies this may be nonsense or already discussed. Wendel did a minisforum review(one of many) and mentioned like many modern devices they will not boot without a cmos battery, cmos batteries especially one from China boards aren’t necessarily great.

I’ve ran mine without a battery to do a cmos reset but that’s necessarily the same with every minisforum product board revision.

I don’t think you’ve done anything wrong and I’d have returned the board as well but maybe the next guy will find this useful.

I have an AI X1 Pro arriving today got the one that came with 64GB and another 4TB 990 pro.  I'm going to be using this for most of my work instead of the big computer that idles at like 150-170w.

The biggest differences should be extra hardware like gpu, waterpump, multiple large fans, spinning drives.Actual chip power drawfrom the cpu wont be that much at idle.

Just re-installed everything to the 990 pro.  This thing is actually pretty awesome.  Single CPU is pretty much just as fast (very slightly faster actually) as the 7950x3D.  Will easily handle everything but gaming.  Actually *some* gaming.  I tested Will of the Wisps it can run 4kHDR at about 50fps which is fine for that title.

No geekbench improvement yet but I’ve printed a fan shroud so air is pulled from outside my a09 case, noctua 60mm front intake by seasonic SSP-300SUB power supply runs to loud and hot otherwise and 80mm exhaust fan.IMG_1993.thumb.jpeg.25279d540cfd0e8df6653d7bd8a96359.jpeg

Still no improvement. Build update to Arctic p12 max to see if higher rpm fan makes a difference. 1750rpm to approx 3300rpm

Undo the undervolt and make sure the CPU is properly cooled.
