Question about the Sega Dreamcast

So I recently picked up up 2 Sega Dreamcast that are functional aside from the disc drives not reading discs as seems to be common with the Dreamcast. Is it worth it to go with one the GDEMU thing that I keep seeing or should I try to fix the gd-rom drive already in the systems.

Attempting to get the drive working again won't cost you anything but time, so I'd try that first.

I will certainly try that cause this is something that has not shown up as could be done from my searching around. When I get home after work, I will see if that can fix my issue.
