Free to keep when you get it before Apr 16th.

I remember posting this being free on Steam like it was yesterday...

This game has been given out so many times... It was also free on Epic back in September of 2019 and December of 2020 and free on Xbox back in July of 2015.

GoG once again is after your information to flood you with marketing e-mails...

on steam the catch is that you cant get trading cards for the game.

on GoG the catch is this:

Quote

By clicking the ‘Add to library’ button, I agree to receive marketing communications from GOG and CD PROJEKT on my email address and through GOG services and GOG’s Trusted Partners’ services, to get Metro 2033 Redux.

you have to specificly agree to get marketing e-mails from GOG and CD Projekt in order to collect the game.

Yes, but you can unsubscribe from those emails once they send the first one. I will say GOG’s marketing emails are extremely annoying, they flood my inbox with discount codes for games I don’t care about and occasionally adult games like House Party that I have no interest in playing.

ofcourse, but it's still an annoyance you dont have if you dont use GoG. freebies on GoG almost always are paired with freebies on steam, and for all of steam's flaws, when they say free, it's free.

Also some wants to own the games (GoG), instead of just right to access it (Steam). Downsides on both, so everyone can pick there preferred freebie platform 😉

i've got a news flash for you, there's no difference between what you get on GoG vs what you get on steam. they're both a license to play the game, if GoG goes down, you cant install the game trough GoG just the same as it would be with steam. it's marketing bollocks.

I did get the standalone installer, but as hinted earlier, everyone should find option that works for their needs.
