I recently got an RTX 3080, and it's given me no issues in anything except in Jedi: Survivor. I always have really low GPU utilization and very low frames. (35-50 fps) I think this is because of the monitor I'm playing it on. my main monitor is a 1080p 360hz alienware that I use for shooter games, etc. My second monitor is a 4K 60hz display I use for story driven games like Jedi survivor. I think my monitor is somehow limiting the frames that my GPU can make and is giving me really low usage. I don't have Vsync turned on or anything like that. is there a fix for this? thanks!

35-50 fps with an RTX 3080 sounds about right actually. This isn’t an issue, this is the expected performance. The 3080 isn’t a 4K gpu.

MY PC:

Ryzen 9 3900X 12 Core PBO Enabled

ASUS RTX 4070 DUAL OC

Asus Prime x570 Pro Motherboard

Kingston Fury Beast 128GB RAM 4 Slots

Fractal Design Case

EVGA 80+ Gold 800W PSU

That doesn't jive with low GPU utilization, though. If the GPU were struggling due to the resolution being too high, you would expect it to be maxed out at near-100%. It sounds more like a CPU limit to me.

OP, what CPU and RAM do you have and what's the VRAM utilization in Jedi Survivor?

I'm having more fun than you 😠

I agree. Could be a bottleneck.

Jedi Survivor is a known super shit optimized game. If you arent GPU bottlenecked, increase resolution until you are.

Ok, clarifications. The monitor is 4K but I run the game in 1440p. I have a R7 9700X and it's not really utilized above 50% ever when I play games. I have 32 Gigs of 6000 MT/s DDR5. VRAM utilization is 7-8 gigs out of the 10.

So, first thing to keep in mind is that you can be CPU-limited without being at 100% CPU utilization. Most games tend to hit a limit on the main render thread before they hit the multi-core performance limit (at least if you have a modern CPU with lots of cores).

Low GPU utilization is a much better indication of a CPU bottleneck than the CPU utilization.

That said, 35-50 fps does still seem problematically low for this CPU and this game.

So, I have some follow-up questions:

-What settings are you using and what section of the game is this occurring in? I know the village hub area is the most demanding part of the game.

-Have you checked CPU and GPU temperatures to make sure they're not overheating?

-When you installed your 3080, did you do a full driver reinstall (i.e., completely uninstalling the old drivers with DDU before installing the new drivers)?

-Which Nvidia driver version are you using? Many people have reported issues with the drivers released this year.

I'm having more fun than you 😠

I'm on 1440p Epic settings with RT on, and quality DLSS upscaling. CPU and GPU temps are fine, both sitting in the mid 60s. this is happening in all areas of the game. I did a full driver re-install with the 3080 using the clean installation option, and the driver version is the one released on the 14th of march
