Hello, I am currently facing an nvlddmkm.sys error on my laptop. It has been nearly 6 months of trying to figure out solutions for this error and I am still at a loss. At the moment, it seems the crashes mostly happen when the laptop is plugged in. When plugged in, games tend to either crash instantly or last around 10 minutes, however on battery the games seem to last more than 30 minutes/don't seem to crash at all. Not sure if this means that the battery is the problem or it is something else.

To begin, here are the specs:

  • Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (PHN16-71)
  • Windows 11
  • Intel i5-13500HX
  • Nvidia RTX 4050
  • 1 x 16 GB, 1 x 8GB RAM
  • Kingston NV2 (1TB) SSD

I've tried a lot of solutions online but none have returned any result. Some are:

  • Factory Reset & Fresh installation
  • Using DDU and reinstalling drivers
  • Sending the laptop to the manufacturer for repairs
    • First repair manufacturer decided to replace the screen, though not sure why
    • Second repair involved replacing the motherboard, though issues still persist
  • Giving nvlddmkm.sys access
  • Tried a different charging cable/brick / different power source
  • Disabling HDR

I have run memtest86, though I cannot directly swap my RAM sticks since it would void my still existing warranty. I have been able to test both sticks and only the 16GB stick and both tests have returned no errors.

Any advice regarding this would be appreciated.

I am having a similar issue - the machine reboots when watching internet video. Here are the steps I have taken which seem to have helped:

1. Add a registry key for TdrDelay = 10
2. Remove your motherboard bloatware - fan controllers, "fast boot" utility, etc.

Make sure you check your event viewer and crash logs to be sure it's still nvlddmkm.sys causing your issues - it might be something else that appears to have the same outcomes.

Good luck!
