GPU not detected on restart

i recently finished my 1st PC build and it has this weird behavior where my GPU always goes undetected on restart but if i do shutdown -> start up then it works fine, it also works fine if i wake computer up from sleep.

tried updating drivers + BIOS to latest but that didn't seem to help, i tried disabling iGPU in BIOS if discrete GPU is detected and that made things way worse by increasing boot time by 60 secs and making my GPU never detect at all. however the GPU still spins its fans when undetected.

i haven't tried reseating the core parts of my PC as i'm very reluctant to do that, worried i'll break something in the process. is there something else i should try doing? i'm tempted to just leave this problem alone if i can't find an easy solution as it's really not a big deal to use shutdown instead of restart.

 

specs:

MB - ASRock B850M-X WiFi

CPU - Ryzen 7600X3D

GPU - Sapphire RX 7700 XT

RAM - G.Skill 32GB (2x16GB) Flare X5 6000MHz

SSD - Samsung 980 1TB

PSU - Seasonic Focus Gold GX 750W ATX 3

Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S Redux

Case: Be Quiet Pure Base 501 Airflow Window

did you install the gpu drivers?

yes, should have the latest drivers from the AMD adrenaline software far as i can tell (25.3.1)

are all the power cables plugged into your gpu and what pcie slot is it in?

did you buy the GPU used?

reseat them psu cables too.

Try to reseat and reinstall the GPU. Make sure you have drivers installed.

got 2x 8 pin connectors connected, it's in the top most pcie slot which should be x16 according to MB manual.

everything's new aside from the SSD, i cleaned the SSD with a fresh w11 install (was w10 before).

 

i'll try reseating the GPU/cables then i suppose

well i feel like a fucking idiot, i opened the case, tried pushing the card down and heard an audible click on the right side. closed the case, booted the computer and the issue is gone. i didn't even need to take the card out & reseat, just needed to push the damn thing down.

i'm surprised the card worked in the first place, aside from the restart issue i didn't have any problems with it while gaming and such. oh well, thanks for the help!
