Dolby Atmos for Speakers keeps turning itself on - help!

It sounds horrible and overwrites my equalizer curves... Any idea how I can stop that as I don't want to uninstall drivers (I'm sure it's all connected somehow, device is a Strix G17)?

* I'm serious about horrible lol...first it changes volume depending on each song, and way worse, it actually distorts (highs especially) 馃槵

What speakers and how are they hooked up?

Mainly so its easier to diagnose what could be the cause.

Umm laptop speakers 馃槄

They're actually not bad, just not very loud (and they start sounding really bad when this Atmos thing is active as I mentioned)

uninstall dolby atmos for speakers?

uninstall it. You probably don't need atmos in any way shape or form unless you've got a set up with 7+ speakers with some of them being overhead. The headphone version of atmos is also... well it's different, I'm not sure if it's an improvement.聽

聽I'm just not sure what else this is tied to, for example I used Dolby access app to like double the loudness of the speakers... This laptop really does a lot of weird things... (like the brightness buttons don't work)

Either way maybe I could just try to disable Dolby Atmos I guess?

Yeah, I "tried" the headphones version, aka I didn't even know it's on lol, turning it off improved the sound manifold...

I really wish there was a way to get Sony DSEE Ultimate on windows systems, this thing is so good (I have it on my phone and it works for the speakers too despite saying it's headphones only - completely cuts out needing an equalizer for me and it also works perfectly between different songs, something Windows traditionally has massive issues with)

The headphone version is pretty neat. Built-in presets greatly improve the listening experience, whether it's cleaner and louder speech in videos or spatial sound in games.

I haven't used the headphones version but I've generally heard that it's "different" moreso than that it's better.聽

I absolutely love atmos with my AVR set up though. THAT is something. Upscaling from stereo to 13 channels worth of audio (I have an overkill set up) is NICE.聽

I can't speak to DSEE specifically but I've generally been impressed with Sony's digital processing.聽
I have a Sony AVR and... just wow. It's good. Also using Sony XM5 headphones right now and they do great ANC (which I assume relies on DSP as well)

Sony has a well deserved reputation. I hope they keep up the good work (though tech is a fast industry and best in class today might be trailing edge tomorrow)
