Browser, version and OS:

Firefox, should be latest version. Windows 10.

Steps to reproduce/what were you doing before it happened?

I edited a DM that I had sent to a moderator.

What happened?

When I edited the DM, I noticed an advertisement that had appeared in the uploaded images section that I did not put there.

What did you expect to happen?

No image should've uploaded.

Screenshots of the issue, if applicable:

Any other relevant details:

I have no idea how something like this would happen. The only browser extensions I have are UBlock origin, a web scraping extension, TornTools (for a game), and ScriptMonkey (same thing, though I don't have anything applied to this site).

Yes, I did. However, it's worth asking how it showed up in the first place. Assuming it's server side, there could be some amount of community hacking or smth.

I don't know what platform your massaging on but if you can get in contact with one of the people in charge and let then know.

That's the point of this forum topic. Also, the platform I'm messaging on is mentioned in the original post.

Are you able to add me to that DM (and don't edit it out yet, if possible)?

Looks like something similar might've happened here?

I don't think so? That image is intentionally part of the topic.

That site looks like a scam or at the very least pretty shady, you're essentially paying someone to do a little vigilantism. I went to the website, which you almost certainly shouldn't do, and there was nothing there. If someone did this intentionally that's actually wild, personally I think it's a site bug, perhaps something to do with browser cache

I find that extremely unlikely, it's not that the site was blank or anything, it's that it isn't a real website. There's nothing for your browser to connect to and if you try it gives an error message (DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN, was unable to resolve address with DNS server). Also can sites even do that? Clipboard maybe but I think most browsers ask for permission first, and they definitely can't access my Microsoft account.

Also I found that this company does in fact exist under a different URL, but it's most definitely a scam. Their address is literally the New York State office building and they have no online presence beyond their website, which is ridden with typos among other things.

Their "how it works" page is literally this:

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Sed efficitur ex sit amet massa scelerisque scelerisque. Aliquam erat volutpat. Aenean interdum finibus efficitur. Praesent dapibus dolor felis, eu ultrices elit molestie.

@GoStormPlays does it still show up? And did you do anything with it (eg click the delete button)? If possible, it would still be useful to be added to the PM.

(for my reference, the attachment was actually uploaded to this removed post)

When I originally saw it, I removed it (simply because that's about the weirdest image you could have in a DM, much less to a moderator of the site lol). It doesn't show up anymore when I edit the DM.

I believe someone has reported a similar thing before, but looking at the code I couldn't figure out how this would be happening. I might look again in a bit, but these are the kind of bugs that are really annoying to track down. If you do see it again, please do flag it.
