Hello, I have a Razorblade 14 inch 2023 model I believe. It is the first 14 inch laptop to support RAM upgrading. Razers' site says the default 16GB can be upgraded to 64 5600. Well I did this and for the most part it works, but for long downloads and heavy RAM usage my computer crashes and restarts. This usually forces me to have to restart downloads. the computer won't even let me update windows 10 anymore with out crashing. Of course I can reinstall the base RAM, but I was hoping someone here would know how to to down clock the RAM.

My current problem is that Razer has the BIOS locked so I can't just go and lower the RAM speeds. I used to have a BIOS hack, but even that would not let me play with the RAM speeds. It just allowed undervolting. Any suggestions? I think its a RAM speed problem and not a RAM size error. Thanks for the help

If your BIOS or the system doesn't allow direct modification of RAM speeds, another option could be using Intel XTU (for Intel CPUs) or Ryzen Master (for AMD CPUs), depending on your processor type. These tools let you adjust some system parameters, but the results can vary based on your laptop's locking of BIOS functions.

Use software like MemTest86, Prime95, or AIDA64 to stress test the memory and check for any instability or errors at the higher RAM speeds. If errors show up, this confirms that downclocking is likely necessary.

Its very likely a CAS latency issue not the speed. Some OEM boards are picky even down to that.

Crucial Upgrade Selector can help you to find the specific rule of thumb you can get. See if theyre the same as your RAM kit in the CL number. Bigger number is fine to a point, too high of a CL number can also affect stability.
