Been a while since I looked into motherboards. Finally looking to retire my i9-9900k.

If that is not already an indication, I tend to keep my rigs for a while with occasional incremental upgrades. So I don't mind spending a bit more for better.

Motherboards are no longer my strong suit (not since 'excavator' and related).

Mainly looking at form factor which at least at this point is basically only 2 or 3 options. Leaning towards Asus, as I have used them the most and it is the most feature packed, but is there any reason to save $30 or $70 going with gigabyte or even asrock in the ITX variety?

Go with Asus if you want top-notch features, better VRM performance, and reliable long-term performance, even if it costs a little more. It's perfect if you plan to keep the system for several years with incremental upgrades and want the best possible experience with things like overclocking, cooling, and support.

Gigabyte is excellent for solid performance and features without breaking the bank. They're often cheaper than Asus and provide good build quality and features.

ASRock is a good value pick if you're on a tighter budget but still want decent performance. However, if you're looking for top-tier performance and longevity, it might be worth looking into something from Asus or Gigabyte.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, I'd lean toward Asus; as you mentioned, you're after a premium, feature-rich setup. You won't be disappointed with the extra investment if you keep your rigs for a while.
