Budget (including currency): $3500 USD

Country: America

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: ARC Survival Assented, Solidworks

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I just ordered the parts for my new pc https://pcpartpicker.com/list/YT7trM and I got my 5080FE from eBay and want to test it before all my other parts arrive. Can I test it with the adapter with just 2 of the 3 8-pins plugged in because my current computer only has 2. My current PSU is a 750w Corsair unit.

It should most definitly have more than 2. What psu is it? Exact model?

Also that pc can have hundreds of dollars saved and nothing of value or quality would be lost really.

It is a Corsair RM750 (2019) 750 W but I only have 2 PCIe power conectors for it.

Are you sure those arent dual 8 pins? Thats what should come with the psu 2x 2x8 pin pcie connectors totalling a total of 4 connectors.

Yes I only have 1 2X8-pin cable the rest got lost in a move I think. I only want to make sure the GPU powers on not put a load on it.

Since its the fe which doesnt check if all cables are connected at all (hence the melting issues on the 5090) it should power up just fine. Course dont fully load it but also technically thats fine since the 8 pin connectors are well quite overbuilt 😛

they are extremely overbuilt so i wouldnt be surprised if they held up fine at 600w albiet the psu would be a limit by then as its only a 750w then theres the 12v high failure connector melting even below 600w
