The state of the 9070 market - An update from Denmark (April 11th)

@Admins, I apologize if there is an existing thread i should use but I couldn't a clear candidate.

So, as we are two weeks into the release of the RX 9070 and 9070 xt the things have already begun to settle down a bit.

Status in Denmark is now, that the 9070 is actually pretty widely available in certain models, both the ASUS TUF and Prime, Gigabyte Gaming, Asrock Steel Legend, Sapphire Pure and XFX Swift can easily be had from the Norwegian company Komplett. Similarily, Proshop has several models for sale, and the retailer Elgiganten also have stock.

What is noticable is that none of the non-xt models are limited in the sale-options now. When they first came out there were countdowns and "Opens for orders at 2pm" ect. So they can be had. BUT the prices are still a mess. Most cards are somewhere between 10 and 20 % above MSRP if we take Danish salestax and a few % import costs into account. So hopefully we will see the predictions of the reviewers fulfilled in a relatively near future as the sellers have plenty of cards, but people are not buying at the current pricing.

For the xt models its a different story. Here there are a few models for "open" sale, but mostly they are still trickling in and getting sold out almost immediately after sales are open. Those available are usually the top tier models that are pretty overpriced even before we talk about the current "shortage pricing" that also seem to be around +20%. Some can also be ordered but with 2 weeks of estimated deliverance.

Summed up, pricing is still too high, especially for the non-xts but we seem, at least here in Denmark, to have reached a saturation point for the 9070 at its current price. My hope is that we will see price reductions within a foreseeable future as buyers have proven unwilling to accept current pricing. As a few 9070xts are also available it could be, that the same thing has started to happen at for this GPU, but my gut tells me that it will be a longer wait before we see price drops here.

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)

  • 3 weeks later...

Newest update. The 9070 xt are not selling out anymore either, and we have started seeing very small increments of price drops.

The Sapphire Pulse 9070 xt that im especially paying attention to, has now gone from 6390 dkk to 6290 dkk in one e-tailer, while our biggest e-tailer have stock of them all ready for sale instead of gating them behind release times.

The Power Color Reaper is now listed for 6090 dkk but is currently not in stock. Asus Prime, another card that seemed to be in plenty stock last time i checked also seems to have finally sold out, but with no current price listed. This one can be had at one of our larger retailers for 6290 dkk, so again, small price drops over the 6390 dkk that seemed to be the pricing floor 3 weeks ago.

Lets hold the line and see if we can starve off some bigger chunks of the price before the cards starts to flow again

Here in Norway 9070 XT is still sold out and price have not gone down. May take little longer before shipments sell out, not sure.

But I find it interesting that the cards that get stocked for a short while in some countries is different than others.

For example, from what I have seen, (almost) all sapphire pulse there was was those that was was those that was available at launch. Exept those that was the last few days. But Gigabyte Gaming OC and XFX have gotten stocks multiple/more times before selling out again.

Are you sure? I just went to Komplett and they do have a few models. Still a bit expensive though.

I believe those arrived in stock yesterday or something like that.
Or, they at least didnt have any in stock 2-2,5 days ago. So yeah maybe selling out slower.
